Water Survival: You are What You Drink
Why Alkaline Water is Better to Drink
Do you believe an average person will not survive longer than 10 days without water? The warmer the temperature, the less time you will have to live. Consider this: when a baby is born, its’ body is comprised of almost 80% water. By the time the person is an adult, the body is comprised of almost 60% water.
Water is the single most important substance your body requires to stay alive. As bold as this statement may seem, you can go without food an estimated four to six weeks, or 28 to 56 days. Some individuals have survived almost 80 days without food.
Surely most people have heard the old adage, “You are what you eat.” The real truth is, what you drink has at least an equal share in what you eat, and maybe its importance is much greater. In an age of heightened awareness of various chemicals and food additives affecting your health, amazingly little is said about the research related to the health effects of what we drink. Sadly, the typical fast food diet is high in fat, sugar, and protein. Especially troubling are the amount of soda people consume on a daily basis. Not only are most sodas high in sugar, but soda tends to be highly acidic as well.
A friend of mine referred to a brand name diet soda as “the nectar of the gods”, because he felt so much better not consuming all of the calories of its twin sugar bearing partner. Yet the diet drink he swears by is acidic. Acidic conditions promote a host of health problems.
Dangers of Acidic Water
In the 1930s, two noble prizes were awarded to Otto Warburg who discovered that cancer thrived in acidic media. This means the lower the PH in the body, the more likely that cancer would grow and thrive. Cancer cells liked and thrived in sugar rich and slightly acidic bodies. The converse was also found to be true--bodies that were well oxygenated and more alkaline in nature, tended to suppress if not all together prevent the growth of cancer.
Almost every cancer diet has a principal goal to lower the storage of sugars along with raising the PH in the body. However, most people will readily admit, that many cancer diets are dramatically different from the normal diet.
Turn to Good Health
Recently my husband, Charles went to the doctor for his semi-annual physical. The doctor came in with a broad smile and proclaimed that his blood pressure medicines were working. For the last four years, Charles has had moderately high blood pressure. The doctor reported that his bad cholesterol dropped by 40 points and his good cholesterol was up.
Charles smiled at the doctor and told him that he had stopped taking the blood pressure medicine four months ago. Charles is careful to monitor his diet and knew exactly any changes that may have occurred during this observation period. Much to our doctor’s surprise, Charles said that there was only one change in his diet. My husband was now drinking Kangen alkaline water.
Now I would not recommend stopping blood pressure medicine. But I had wanted to know whether what I had read and heard about alkaline water was true. My husband’s lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol count are testimony. Although he had always enjoyed drinking a glass of water, I just did not believe that the type of water would make much of a difference. In fact, he used to drink carbonated waters, which are highly acidic, much like diet soda.
This important change in my husband’s diet has made a significant change in his health. Next time you think of the phrase, you are what you eat, think again. You are what you drink.
